Peoples Bank & Trust donates to Local Food Pantries
May 22, 2020
Nick Epley, Vice President, Business Banking recently presented donations to Larry Ade from the Pana Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Merle Slater from the Oconee Baptist Church Food Pantry for $2,000 each. Peoples Bank & Trust is making $22,000 in donations to 11 food pantries in its market areas. The bank received significant funding for the program due to its membership in the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago (FHLB).
The Pana Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry is located at 120 E. Second St. in Pana. They are open on Monday from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and Friday from 3:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. for food distributions and donations. The Oconee Baptist Food Pantry is open on Wednesday and Friday from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Both food pantries rely on monetary and non-perishable food item donations to provide for those in need.
The bank wishes to help meet the growing needs in our communities during the pandemic and use the opportunity to educate the public that the federal stimulus CARES Act provides taxpayers an additional incentive to help. Individual taxpayers that do not itemize expenses may claim up to $300 in an ‘above-the-line’ income tax deduction for monetary donations made in 2020.
