Peoples Bank & Trust Contributes to Arcola Corn Palace
March 28, 2025
Peoples Bank & Trust recently contributed $5,000 to the Arcola Broomcorn Palace to assist with construction costs and the ongoing management of the palace when it opens later this year. This donation was part of the Bank’s $20,000 pledge to the project in downtown Arcola. John Gardner, President and CEO, Dale Boyer, Community Bank President, along with Fredy Moreno, AVP Business Banking, presented the check to Pat Monahan and Kevin Monahan.
As most people in Douglas County and the surrounding area know, Arcola is the former Broomcorn Capital of the World. Currently, Arcola is the home to the Libman Company, the largest manufacturer of brooms in the United States. Arcola has strong ties to brooms, is already a tourist destination, is blessed with numerous lodging facilities, has many food stops and stores to shop and stroll through. Construction on the new addition to downtown Arcola is near completion and will be a great addition to the community. It is anticipated that the new palace will open its doors for visitors to explore this summer.
Community President Boyer shared, “Investing in our communities is very important to Peoples Bank and Trust. We are blessed to be able to support this endeavor and excited to see the traffic that it will bring to downtown Arcola. We believe the new palace will have a trickledown effect for the community as retail stores, restaurants and other small businesses will benefit from the increased traffic the palace will bring to Arcola.”
