Peoples Bank Contributes to Arthur Area Food Pantries
November 13, 2024
Peoples Bank & Trust recently contributed $2,500 to the food pantries in Arthur, Illinois to assist with the essentials of those needing assistance with food and meals in Arthur and the surrounding area. Dawn Boddy, Assistant Vice President, Consumer Banking, presented a $1,250 check to the food pantry at Arthur Southern Baptist Church as well as the food pantry at Arthur United Methodist Church.
The food pantries in Arthur exist to make life a little easier for those struggling with hunger. Food and monetary donations are received by churches from supporters all around Douglas and Moultrie County to assist our neighbors. The food pantries are staffed by friendly, welcoming volunteers from our loving community. A ministry of the church, it is truly supported by the entire community!
AVP Boddy said, “We are thrilled to assist families of need in Arthur and the surrounding area. Government benefits do not always cover the rising cost of food, and many families or individuals who are unable to afford food regularly may not qualify for public assistance. Food pantries are life-changing, life-saving organizations for people who face hunger every day. The local food pantries in the churches of Arthur help fill in the gaps where people may otherwise fall short. With the help of the food pantries, local families who would otherwise struggle to find their next meal are able to have food on the table and improve their family’s lives.”
The Arthur Southern Baptist Church shared, “We are grateful to Peoples Bank for their generous donation to the Arthur Southern Baptist Church food pantry ministry. This support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of many families within our community and surrounding areas. Thanks to this contribution, we can continue our mission to provide essential food resources to those in need, fostering hope and strength for individuals and families alike. We are thankful for The Peoples Bank & Trust partnership in this mission and their commitment to uplifting our community.”
Jill Strawn, Director of the food pantry at the Arthur United Methodist Church, stated, “The Arthur United Methodist Church has several outreach projects that will benefit from this generous donation from Peoples Bank & Trust. Our food pantry and God’s Closet help many families each month. We will be sending 59 families a voucher so they can purchase food from Kirby Foods for their Thanksgiving dinner. We appreciate and are thankful for all the support we receive from our church family and our community.”
